VP of Compliance - Brazil
General Purpose
We are looking for someone to lead our regulatory compliance and AML oversight program across Patria’s Brazilian operations. This is a critical role ensuring adherence to Brazilian and international regulations.
The VP of Compliance - Brazil will be part of the Patria Global Compliance Team reporting to the Group CCO. The role will be based in the Sao Paulo office, with responsibility for the Compliance function covering the Brazilian operations as well as supporting the Global Compliance Team.
The role requires a strong background in Compliance with deep expertise of Brazilian Regulations. We are seeking a dynamic, adaptable, and well-organized individual who can demonstrate the ability to engage with all aspects of Compliance that impact a Latin American based Global Asset Management Company.
The individual will lead with integrity and promote a strong compliance culture within the company taking full responsibility for the following:
Key Role and Responsabilities
- Overseeing compliance with applicable Brazilian and international regulations as well as internal standars.
- Ensuring all required regulatory filings, licenses, registrations, and reporting obligations are timely and accurately fulfilled.
- Keeping up to date and assessing the impact of new regulatory and legal developments.
- Reporting to Boards, Committees and other Governance bodies
- Delivery of compliance training to all employees, directors, and vendors when applicable.
Policy & Framework Development
- Operate a robust local compliance framework tailored to the needs of the business
- Maintain and update internal policies, procedures, and controls;
- Liaise on corporate governance matters.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Conduct periodic compliance risk assessments
- Testing compliance through the execution of the compliance monitoring program
- Preparing and present compliance reports to senior management and the board
Training & Culture
- Lead compliance training programs across the business.
- Foster a culture of integrity and regulatory awareness
Transaction & Product Review
- Provide compliance input and oversight on new product launches and investment structures
- Coordinate investors’ due diligence processes from a compliance perspective
- Review fund documentation, investor communications, and marketing materials.
Group Coordination
- Collaborate with all functions across affiliated entities.
Support the Group CCO in broader group wide initiatives
Education and Qualifications
- Law, Engineer, or accountant Degree.
- 10+ years of experience in a Compliance position. Asset Management experience is desirable
- Unquestionable integrity and commitment to ethical business conduct.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex regulations and turn them into actionable guidance.
- Strategic and cross-functional leadership, capable of influencing at all organizational levels.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Portuguese and English (bilingual proficiency required).
- Detail-oriented with a strong grasp of the broader business environment.
- Resilient and composed under pressure, with the ability to navigate highly regulated and multicultural environments.
- Proven experience in a similar role
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to operate as a “trusted advisor” with balance between support and challenge.
- Previous experience dealing with regulators, including regulations on AML, Sanctions, KYC, Ethics, and other regulatory and compliance topics.
- Experience managing other compliance staff.
- Experience in a matrix reporting organization.
- High sense of urgency, strong work ethic and drive for results.
- A confident approach and an ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders including regulators, directors, legal advisors, outsourced partners, and senior management within the business.
- Exceptional oral and written communication with the ability to concisely provide executive summaries to senior Management and the Board of Directors.
