VP II - Information Technology:
About the Role:
The IT Business Relationship Manager (IT BRM) for Fund Operations is the dedicated technology partner between IT and the Fund Operations business unit. The role is accountable for ensuring IT understands, prioritizes, and delivers against Fund Operations' technology needs — and that the business understands IT's roadmap, constraints, and delivery model.
This is not an account-management role. It requires credible technical fluency in the systems that underpin fund operations, combined with the stakeholder skills to translate business demand into structured IT requirements, and IT decisions into business-relevant communication. The IT BRM acts as demand manager, delivery advocate, escalation channel, and strategic technology advisor.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Demand Management & Business Alignment
• Act as the primary intake point for all IT demand from Fund Operations — capturing, structuring, and prioritizing requests against business value and IT capacity.
• Maintain a forward-looking demand pipeline, translating business initiatives into well-defined technology requirements and project briefs.
• Run regular demand review forums with Fund Operations leadership and IT delivery teams, ensuring transparency on status, sequencing, and trade-offs.
• Manage the IT investment planning cycle for Fund Operations, building business cases and aligning to budget governance.
• Produce regular showback reporting that gives Fund Operations visibility into the run cost of its technology – infrastructure, licensing, and managed services – broken down in terms the business understands
• Ensure business stakeholders understand the full cost implication of roadmap requests, driving well-informed technology implementation decisions
2. Technology Architecture & Strategic Enablement
• Contribute to defining the target technology architecture for Fund Operations, ensuring it is aligned to business strategy and capable of supporting growth, operational scale, and regulatory demands.
• Assess technology implications of strategic initiatives — including M&A activity, geographic expansion, and new market entry — translating them into architecture requirements, integration needs, and platform readiness assessments.
• Maintain a current technology map for Fund Operations covering applications, integrations, data flows, and dependencies across all regions.
• Bring relevant market (benchmarking) and technology trends to business stakeholders and contribute to the IT roadmap for the Fund Operations domain.
3. Fund Operations Systems Knowledge
• Maintain deep knowledge of the systems supporting Fund Operations: fund accounting and NAV platforms, reconciliation tools, data and reporting infrastructure, transfer agency systems, and external connectivity with administrators and custodians.
• Understand operational workflows well enough to assess system change impact — without owning the operational processes.
• Support vendor assessments for Fund Operations technology, providing IT perspective on architecture fit, integration complexity, and total cost of ownership.
4. Stakeholder Relationship Management
• Build and sustain trusted relationships with Fund Operations leadership and key users — acting as their advocate within IT and their technology advisor within the business.
• Translate IT constraints and roadmap decisions into clear business-language communication, managing expectations proactively.
• Represent Fund Operations in IT governance forums, architecture boards, and project steering committees.
• Mediate tension between IT delivery capacity and business expectations, driving solution-oriented resolution.
5. Service Delivery & Issue Management
• Works in collaboration with the Business Continuity Team in the IT service experience for Fund Operations: monitor SLAs, drive resolution of recurring issues, and escalate where standard channels are failing — especially during critical operational periods.
• Coordinate post-incident reviews for significant outages affecting Fund Operations, ensuring root cause analysis and remediation plans are communicated to the business.
• Track and report IT performance metrics for Fund Operations and use data to drive continuous improvement conversations with IT leadership.
6. Project & Change Delivery
• Serve as the IT accountability point for all technology projects and changes affecting Fund Operations — ensuring business readiness, UAT coordination, and go-live sign-off.
• Coordinate change management activities for system implementations, upgrades, and migrations alongside IT Project Managers.
• Manage the pipeline of smaller enhancements and configuration changes, balancing delivery speed with governance and risk controls.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
• 7–12 years in IT business relationship management, IT business analysis, or technology program delivery within financial services — asset management or fund services strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of fund operations technology: fund accounting platforms, reconciliation tools, data management, and reporting systems. (e.g., Geneva, Ability, Atlas, INOA, Investran, eFront)
• Proven experience managing IT demand and translating business requirements into structured project briefs or functional specifications.
• Track record of managing relationships across IT and business functions, including senior leadership.
• Experience with multi-jurisdictional technology environments; Latin America and/or European market exposure is essential.
• Familiarity with IT governance frameworks (ITIL, COBIT) and control requirements in regulated financial environments.
• Fluency in English; Spanish and/or Portuguese is a significant advantage.
Preferred:
• Experience assessing and defining technology requirements for M&A integrations or new market/geographic expansion programs.
• Familiarity with data and integration architecture patterns supporting fund operations — APIs, middleware, data warehousing.
• Experience working with third-party fund administrators and custodians on technology connectivity.
• Professional certifications in IT governance, project management, or business analysis (ITIL, PMP, CBAP, or equivalent).
Core Competencies:
Technology & Delivery:
• Fund operations technology landscape fluency
• IT demand management and prioritization
• Target architecture definition and roadmapping
• Business requirements and solution design
• IT service management and SLA oversight
Data and integration architecture awareness
Relationship & Strategy:
• Stakeholder influence across IT and business
• Executive-level communication
• Strategic thinking within IT governance context
• Conflict mediation and problem-solving
• Cross-cultural and multilingual effectiveness
